Poster Boy Arrested!
Okay, so apparently, a certain underground razor-wielding rock star has been incarcerated for his... unique brand of subway art. Defacing public property is probably more along the lines of what they're calling it but still. Do the advertisers really care, should they? Should the MTA?
In the dreary landscape of advertising, now we actually can look and engage and giggle with the re-imaginings of someone out there who seems to be commenting on the dreariness. I think it's great, and it's only made me notice ads more, not less. What do you think?

kastoory, this is a great post.
captured my sentiments exactly on how i feel about PB, and how i'm even more apt now to want to look at advertising in the stations.
yeah i have to agree. also... shouldn't someone just give him a gallery show? http://presidentofart.com/?p=899
how come they could arrest him just off some party? what was he doing at the time? damn the po'po'
am i the only one who gets how the advertisers might feel seeing their ad dollars get thrown like that?
he should get mcdorsed
any new news on the whole situation? i thought bail was supposed to be posted today...
All of this went down at our festival on Friday. We featured 3 live artists, 6 bands and 4 djs but no undercovers. Everyone was there to support our documentary series and help us raise some funds. Unfortunately art, artists and 500 people peacefully coming together doesn't make the news, but an arrest does.
If you're interested in seeing the creative process of artists and not the sensationalism of "news," please take a look at our series Friends We Love. We cover artists from a variety of disciplines and at different stages of their careers. I hope you enjoy it!
Has anyone seen the new ad for Big Love in the Times Square subway stop? Basically they have giant ads where you can insert headphones and hear what people are thinking in the ad itself. It's all about finding out what people are really thinking. It has nothing to do with the arrest, but it's an amazing ad. Me and my friend stopped to listen in, and we were blown away. Next time you see it plug in and listen.
